Starting last week I’ve been trying out a commitment to 20 minutes of writing articles that will help earn more money in my business (not these blogs). I had a mountain to climb in terms of workload and had that inevitable feeling of overwhelm in front of me, but 20 minutes of writing? Easy.
And 20 minutes is a good length to work at absolute max capacity, and once I’ve finished my 20 minutes I’m off the hook for writing, I don’t have to do any more but if I want to steal another 20 minutes I can.
I’ve always loved hearing answers from people who’ve written ridiculous amounts of books, to the question, how do you do it? And the answer tends to be the same and something along the lines of:
“I write 300 shitty words every day”
Writing a novel is hard, but writing 300 shitty words? That I can do. And when I do it early, I’ve got the rest of the day to come back and try and maybe just manage another 300 shitty words.
