It can easy to make excuses not to do something, even if it’s something you seemingly enjoy. Which is why it’s important to make it easy to do in the first place.
If you want to work on your painting but have to get the easel out of the loft every time you use it, the chances are you’re not going to use it. But if you’re easel is out and ready just off to one side out the way when you decide to practise you can just walk over and start no fuss.
I had to move some software off of an old computer yesterday for just that reason, using it involved moving my current computer out the way, getting my old laptop, finding a power supply and waiting for the comparatively slow boot up to take place.
When it’s laid out like that it doesn’t sound like much but it was enough to stop me using it. Now it’s moved to my main computer and if I have five minutes I can just turn it on and go.
Don’t make life difficult yourself.
